It should be pointed out that native plants are not the same as indigenous plants Indeed some of our worst environmental weeds are natives One of the definitions of a weed is a plant out of place Some native species from other areas can pollute the local gene pool by hybridising with local indigenous plants, so it's safest to plant only species indigenous to your area and preferably from the same site.
